Shift cable arrives! Let’s get this job done!

OMG !!

Our replacement shift cable finally made it !!  Lol, it only took a week to go from Hollywood, FL to Orlando, FL.  I realize that I bought on price only, but I did go with a seller that was ” in-state” assuming it would only take a day or two.   What is it they say about ASS-U-ME ?  We won’t buy from them again.

Anyway, enough whining. The good news is that the shift cable is done and the Forward and Reverse gears shift smoother than ever.       Love it.

Shift cable done, but wait…

It is a boat and stuff does go wrong.  The boat is still running rough even after going through our checklist for getting our Boat Ready. We have just replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. We also just replaced the Fuel / Water Separator filter. The old one had been in service for 13 months.

I’m wondering how much gunk and debris may have passed into the carburetor and I can’t remember the last time I had the carb off for rebuild.  For me, that’s reason enough to justify a rebuild kit and some carb cleaner.  Hopefully the carb kit comes quicker than the shift cable did!

Thursday Evening Therapy

Shift cable done
Lake Conway Evening

For the many years that we lived in Orlando near the Lake Conway Chain, we have made a habit of night cruising on Thursdays whenever possible. It’s good therapy and we are always sure to run into some of our very special friends that are out cruising around too.

Maybe this Thursday evening can be the “shake-down” run if we can get this problem with the boat solved.

It is frustrating to have the boat down for awhile, but we definitely would rather get all of this out of the way up front and enjoy the entire season.

Btw, soon we will do a post about what we check when it comes to the trailer so we can hopefully avoid out-of-the-water problems.

DST

That’s right. Daylight Savings Time.  Here in Florida, this is a controversial topic. Many are for continuing to participate in the yearly changes, while many others would like to see us just stick with a continuous clock.

For us, this falls into that category where someone else is going to make those decisions, and we’re just gonna have to roll with it. Regardless, we’re stoked that we have a little more outside time after work and a couple of bonus hours of boating on the weekends.

So, that’s the latest update on the boat.  Watch for our next post on Trailer Service and please leave a comment and subscribe below.

See you on the water !
