About Us

Jennifer and Rick

Thank’s for stopping by and checking out our blogsite.  I’m Rick, and my wife Jennifer and I welcome all of you to Thunderhula .com , a Florida boat blog.

This blog follows our transition from full-time business owners and recreational boaters to becoming slow boat cruisers with a lifestyle more suited for t-shirts and flip-flops.

We’re both avid boaters and beachgoers who just can’t get enough of the beautiful waters that surround us.

Who we are…

Jennifer and I met in Charleston, S.C. where we both grew up. We were married in 1993, and moved to Orlando, FL less than a year later.  We were blessed with the birth of our son Robert in 1998. He is the first “Florida Native” in our family and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

We have been operating our mobile electronics business in Orlando since 1996.  As our own personal interest in boating grew, we began putting a bigger focus on marine electronics and accessories in our business as well.

Not only have we learned more about the marine industry along the way, but this has also allowed us to make tons of new friends (as well as customers) who share our love of boating.

Where we go…

Whether snorkeling for Scallops on the Gulf coast or trailering our boat on countless trips down to the Florida Keys, the waters here have so much to offer boaters like us.

We’ve enjoyed daytrip boating to many of Florida’s rivers and lakes. We have spent many weekends camping on the local spoil islands along the ICW and have regularly stayed overnight on our boat in some of Florida’s beautiful freshwater spring areas.

Jennifer and I have already had so many awesome experiences boating as a family, enjoying our friends, and making new friends.  We  look forward to doing much more of the same.

Our Plan

Time ticks on. Our son is grown now and has his own interests (many of which include boating and fishing).  Our time in the retail workforce is starting to wind down, and the cruising plans that we’ve looked forward to for so long may finally be getting closer.

But really, the plan is to continue cruising these beautiful Florida waters on a larger, slower, and more comfortable boat. We want to see even more of our surrounding waterways and share those experiences with all of you right here on this blogsite.

We hope you enjoy it and please subscribe below so that Jennifer and I can keep you updated on new posts.

See you on the water!!
